Shantanu's Journey Behind FreedomNest™
Hi, I'm Shantanu Kumar Sahoo — Founder of FreedomNest™, Financial Educator, Coach & Ex-Senior Banker.
A Life of Service and Finance
Born into a values-rooted Mahajan family with agricultural traditions, I learned the essence of responsibility and stewardship early in life. My journey led me through an educational path across Odisha — earning degrees in LLB, MBA (Banking & Finance), and certifications in CAIIB, Financial Planning, and Rural Economics.
For over 37 years, I served with distinction at the State Bank of India, retiring as Chief Manager. My career spanned branches to senior offices, from rural banking to product management — giving me a rare grassroots-to-global perspective on finance.
For 17 years, I worked tirelessly, managing work, family responsibilities, and financial struggles. Stress, overthinking, and emotional exhaustion became my reality. I suffered from chronic health issues like severe stomach pain, diabetes, and emotional burnout.
Then, in 2020, everything came crashing down. I hit rock bottom.

- • I battled emotional breakdowns and a short temper.
- • Depression became so overwhelming that even suicidal thoughts crossed my mind.
I questioned everything. Was this all life had to offer?
The Turning Point: A Mission Beyond Banking
After retiring in 2021, I realized my true calling: to educate, empower, and elevate Indians toward financial freedom.
I founded FreedomNest™ in 2025, inspired by the spirit of ancient universities like Puspagiri and powered by modern strategies of money mastery, mindset reset, and life design.
What began as a personal mission has now grown into a movement — training future financial coaches, guiding families, and empowering professionals to live free of financial stress.
